Standard First Aid expands on emergency care by covering a wider range of injuries, illnesses, and emergency situations. Backpacking Medicine

Backpacking Medicine focuses on medical problems encountered during extended trips away from traditional healthcare. Students learn prevention, preparation, injury management, illness recognition, and practical solutions when carrying limited equipment in remote environments. (16 hour duration)

Basic Wilderness Life Support
For anyone who enjoys outdoor recreation and wants stronger wilderness medical skills.
BWLS covers the prevention and treatment of common outdoor injuries, sports-related injuries, weather hazards, and medical problems encountered during activities such as hiking, camping, climbing, skiing, biking, and water sports. It is designed as an introduction to wilderness medicine for outdoor enthusiasts. (16 hour duration)

The industry standard for outdoor professionals, WFR provides a deeper understanding of wilderness medicine, focusing on patient assessment, decision-making, prolonged care, injury management, and evacuation planning in remote environments. Students learn how to manage emergencies when help may be hours or days away. (80 hour duration)
Advanced Wilderness Life Support
For healthcare providers and advanced medical responders working in remote environments.
AWLS focuses on advanced wilderness medicine concepts, including complex patient assessment, critical decision-making, and managing serious medical emergencies when resources are limited. This course is designed for learners with a medical background. (40-50 hour duration)
First responder and firefighting courses
Valour Emergency Preparedness offers specialized training for first responders and those interested in firefighting. Our courses provide critical skills and knowledge for effective emergency response in various situations.
Basic firefighting Skills
Introduces participants to the essential knowledge and techniques needed to safely support fireground operations. This training covers core concepts such as fire behavior, firefighter safety, PPE, extinguisher use, hose handling, and basic suppression techniques.
Through hands-on practice and realistic scenarios, participants build confidence and develop the skills needed to respond effectively during fire emergencies. (80-120 hour duration)
Level 1 firefighting
Provides firefighters with the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills needed to operate safely and effectively. Students learn essential firefighting skills including fire behavior, PPE, fire suppression, search and rescue, hose operations, ladders, and emergency scene safety.
Through practical training and realistic scenarios, this course builds the confidence, teamwork, and decision-making skills needed to become a capable firefighter. (200+ hour duration)
Advanced first aid - Fire First Response
Designed for first responders, this course goes beyond basic first aid, focusing on advanced techniques for trauma, medical emergencies, and prolonged patient care.
Designed for individuals who may be first on scene during an emergency. Build the skills needed to provide effective care in high-risk environments where professional medical help may be delayed.
This course expands beyond standard first aid by focusing on advanced patient assessment, trauma care, bleeding control, medical emergencies, incident response, and the decision-making skills required during critical situations. Through hands-on training and realistic scenarios, participants develop the confidence to manage emergencies until additional resources arrive.
This course bridges the gap between basic first aid and advanced emergency response. (80-100 hour duration)
